American Masters Mel Brooks:Make a Noise

Last night at the Paley Center for Media a comic legend was honored. PBS showed a packed house a documentary more than 60 years in the making and I got to meet one of my comic idols, Mel Brooks. This documentary written and directed brilliantly by Robert Trachtenberg, takes you from Mel’s birth in Brooklyn all the way through to today and somehow manages to do it in 90 minutes. It is jammed packed with interviews with Mel, his long time friends like Carl Reiner and dozens of the stars from his......

Over the weekend I had a chance to talk to the one, the only, the incredible Sharon Needles. If you don’t know who that is, we can’t be friends. She won this season’s Rupaul’s Drag Race and should win every season because she’s that amazing. Curt: First let me say that I am such a huge fan! Sharon- If you were on a ceiling you would be a ceiling fan (laughter) Curt- (laughing)You are my girlfriends favorite since the beginning and she’s loved you since meet the queens, she is going to......

If you were to tell my 13 year old self that I would interview Doctor Demento in 2012, I would scream “I need an adult!” and runaway. Luckily that never happened to me and here I am in 2012 interviewing a man that helped form the comedic part of my brain. Enjoy the interview and as odd as it sounds yes I was extremely nervous to interview him, so it’s definitely not the best interview I’ve done but still a dream come true. Curt- First let me say thank you so much......

I am a huge Whitney Cummings fan and even I’m sick of seeing a billboard, bus stop poster, bus ad, magazine ad everywhere you look, so much so that I had planned on boycotting her show out of spite. That is until I met her and the amazingly talented cast at the Paley Center for Media’s fall TV preview night last night and I fell in love with Whitney all over again. Whitney Cummings is one of the funniest, most gorgeous, nicest person you could talk to, she has the edge to......

Last season Criminal Minds did two things wrong, first they fired AJ Cook six episodes into the season THEN they let Paget Brewster’s character Emily Prentiss die(OK they did this so Paget could film a pilot that in my mind luckily wasn’t picked up.) So before I go any farther **********SPOILER ALERT********************* It’s not that big of a secret but I still don’t want anyone crying in the comments, they are BOTH back for season 7!!!!! Last night at the Paley Center for Media’s TV Guide Fall Tv Preview night (the first......

The documentary “Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop” by Rodman Flender is out and I went to see it not only because for a “blink and you’ll miss me” shot of me in it but also because this movie is special to me. I have always been a Conan O’Brien fan, his humor from The Simpsons straight through to The Tonight Show has ALWAYS been the funniest, most original comedy I have ever seen. For me The Tonight Show ended on January 22, 2010, I have never nor will I ever watch it again,......

Tonight was the Evening with Men of a Certain Age at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, do you guys see a pattern yet? I LOVE THE PALEY CENTER!!!! Their panels are such a great way to get closer to the stars of the shows and tonight was no exception. Men of a Certain Age is a brilliant show from the mind of Ray Romano, and no it’s not another sitcom, this is a dramedy about 3 men getting older and the choices they’ve made along the way. Its a real look......

The Paley Center for Media had ANOTHER great panel last night, seriously more of you need to go to these, they are without a doubt to see your favorite actors from your favorite shows and ask them whatever you want but I was happy to bump into a couple fans of this very site last night so thanks for reading guys! But anyhow back to the panel… Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, the stars of Discovery channels hit show Mythbusters stopped by the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills for An......

Sadly its not often that an intelligent, original show makes it on TV and if it does it usually never sees a season 2 or 3. Too many times I have fallen in love with an original show only to have it cancelled and replaced with some BS reality show or worse a formulaic sitcom that panders to middle America. Thats why I’m shocked that Fringe has stayed on the air and stayed fresh and incredibly intelligent. Fringe filled the void left by LOST for me and hasn’t missed a step, pandered......

If you would have told me 10 years ago that there would be a show about the lives of taxidermists in Alaska, I would have slapped you and told you to sober up but having watched the......

GLEE PANEL PALEYFEST 2011

Tonight was the Paleyfest Glee panel at the Saban Theatre in Beverly hills and not to say I’m not a huge Supernatural fan or Community fan but THIS is the panel I had been looking forward to since the day they announced it! As my regular readers will know I am a self proclaimed Gleek and again as you know it is mostly because of my love for the wonderfully talented and incredibly gorgeous Heather Morris(but we’ll get to Heather later, don’t you worry.) The panel started with a screening of last......

Yesterday The SUPERNATURAL panel was held at the Saban theatre in Beverly Hills. I’m going to assume that you are watching the best show on the CW as well as the best show on Friday nights, hint they are the same show and obviously I’m talking about the insanely well done SUPERNATURAL. If you aren’t watching this show then we can’t be friends. Its one of the best written, best acted(if thats a term) show since the X-Files, a show that consistently gets better episode after episode. But like I said I......

I have been a “Weird Al” Yankovic fan for as along as I can remember, sitting in my bedroom listening to Dr Demento and just being in awe of how hilarious Weird Al is, how he could turn regular songs I hated into parodies I would sing over and over. Then one day before some movie I can’t recall ,a movie trailer came on then made me shout out loud ”YES!” it was UHF, now if you haven’t seen UHF stop reading this now and go watch it! I mean it, no......
