They Might Be Giants new album Nanobots is out!

They Might Be Giants (otherwise known as the best band ever) have released their 16th studio album today, Nanobots.
TMBG have always surprised their fans with every album, we never know quite what to expect but we can all agree that every album outdoes the previous one and Nanonbots is no different. This is a huge album, 25 killer tracks with styles ranging from rockabilly beats to Halloween sounds to surf music. I HATE the term eclectic so I will just say this album has something for everyone. The first ep showed off the rockabilly sounding “Call you Mom” and the very Mono Puff sounding “Black Ops” just these 2 tracks show off the completely different styles of Linell and Flansburgh and this is what makes TMBG so great! If you ever go to a live show(and you should) you will see how the 2 sides of TMBG compliment each other and their vocal styles combine to make them such an amazing, fun band.
My first few listens of Nanobots gave me two very different “must listen to repeatedly” tracks:
The Darlings of Lumberland- a spooky, Halloween style song about ghouls that’s so damned catchy I played it non stop in LA traffic on the way to work.
Then there was “Icky” a surf guitar sound with one of the best choruses ever written, first name all up in your, last name face. I dare you to not start dancing like you are in some 60’s Annette Funicello dance movie.
Both of these songs have been on constant repeat in my car, house and head since I started playing this album and that proves to me again and again what I already know, They Might Be Giants make the best damn music out there. Give the new album a listen then do yourself the best treat ever and see them live as they do a 60 city tour now.
