GLEE PANEL PALEYFEST 2011
Tonight was the Paleyfest Glee panel at the Saban Theatre in Beverly hills and not to say I’m not a huge Supernatural fan or Community fan but THIS is the panel I had been looking forward to since the day they announced it! As my regular readers will know I am a self proclaimed Gleek and again as you know it is mostly because of my love for the wonderfully talented and incredibly gorgeous Heather Morris(but we’ll get to Heather later, don’t you worry.)
The panel started with a screening of last nights episode “Original Song” which was a fan favorite at the panel for two reasons 1. Kurt and Blaine finally kissed to the delight of EVERYONE in the audience and 2. the regionals performances were shot at the very theatre we were watching it in, it was odd to see them up on the big screen dancing and singing and look around and know this is where it happened. The crowd in the theatre erupted in screams with every cast members appearance on screen then the screams became deafening when Blaine and Kurt finally kissed.
After the screening of the episode was the moment that everyone in the audience had been waiting for since lining up outside earlier that morning, one by one the majority of the cast walked out onto the stage. Not everyone was available but the entire stage was filled with chairs. First to come onstage was Darren Criss “Blaine Anderson” then Heather Morris “Brittany S. Pierce”,who looked gorgeous as ever and came out to screams of “I love you!” and ” Brittany is my favorite” , I wanted it noted that not ALL of that screaming was done by me. Then they were joined on stage by Ryan Murphy Cocreator / Executive Producer,Brad Falchuk Producer/Writer/Director,Ian Brennan Co-Creator/Executive Producer ,Dante De Loreto Executive Prodcuer, Chris Colfer “Kurt Hummel”, Jane Lynch “Sue Sylvester”,Kevin McHale “Artie Abrams”,Cory Monteith “Finn Hudson”,Matthew Morrison “Will Schuester”,Amber Riley “Mercedes Jones”,Naya Rivera “Santana Lopez”,Mark Salling “Noah ‘Puck’ Puckerman”,and Jenna Ushkowitz “Tina Cohen-Chang”
This was a HUGE panel, it filled the stage from end to end and in my opinion was unfortunately perhaps a bit too big, it limited the number of questions that were asked of the cast since a majority of the questions dealt more with the writing and behind the scenes aspect, now don’t get me wrong this is an incredibly minor quip about the panel, they still managed to get a ton of questions in and more importantly a ton of information about whats coming up on Glee.
Let’s start with the whats coming up, so…
SPOILER ALERT****WARNING****IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW SPOILERS THEN SKIP BELOW*****
whew, Ok there were sooooo many things said and one of them was slipped accidentally like when Chris Colfer accidentally let it slip that Kurt will definitely be returning to New Dimensions, after he let it slip and realized his mistake he said to the audience “Like you didn’t know!”
The Dave Karofsky/Bully story line will be re-visited, possibly in the Born This Way episode, so technically thats 2 surprises! not only the return of the bully but Lady Gaga is back on Glee and that makes for a very happy Curt(me not Kurt Hummel.)
Fan favorites Kristin Chenoweth and Gwyneth Paltrow will be returning, both of them make Glee an even better show, if thats possible. Kristen will be returning from her all white version of The Wiz, which was a failure and doing her one woman show Crossroads.
Gwyneth will be on the first new episode when Glee comes back and also on next year.
Some things that will be concentrated on this season: the whole Brittany and Santana thing (Santitny, as they called it)
Blaine and Kurt will continue to grow organically.
Blaine will eventually have to audition for New Directions in Season 3.
They will explore the lesbian side of Santana’s character in a genuine and honest way that won’t insult the viewers.
Mercedes will get a love interest by season 3.
Charice played by Sunshine Corazon will come back on the show.
There will be a “Rumors” by Fleetwood Mac episode.
In tour news, the new tour will be 80% season 2 and 20% season 1, with an underdogs building towards Winners theme.
*****END OF SPOILER ALERT IT IS NOW OKAY TO CONTINUE READING THIS WONDERFUL ARTICLE*****
There were so many great moments but I refuse to write out what was said during the entire panel so here’s just a few of my favorite moments from tonight:
Chris Colfer was hysterical onstage, when asked if he had actually made Pavarotti’s tiny little bird coffin. he responded ” would you believe I actually don’t own a bedazzler???”
When Matthew Morrison was asked about his tango with Gwyneth Paltrow , he responded ” There’s a lot of kick steps in this area(pointing to his crotch) and she was nervous she’d hit my man lump and I got kicked a couple of times.I got kicked in the balls by Gwenyth Paltrow, it was a good day.”
When Heather Morris was asked what Ke$ha vomit was made of, in reference to this seasons episode where Brittany and the gang perform Ke$ha’s Tik Tok while drunk, she responded” milkshake material? I guess but it didn’t taste like milkshake, it just tasted like chalk.” She then went on to say how much fun that scene was to film and that it was filmed on her birthday which made it special.
The entire night was so entertaining and again a testament to just how great the Paley Center for Media does at these types of events, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it here, you need to come to next years Paleyfest they can’t be beat for seeing your favorite shows casts up close and personal.
Once again I would love to thank The Paley Center for Media located at 465 N Beverly Dr. ,Beverly Hills, CA 90210
